As a painter, Arthur owes much to the experiences and characters he has met and seen in the Australian outback. The Australian country life, the stockmen, the cattle, horses & camels and the birdlife are his subjects. His paintings show the heat, the vastness, the space and the unique colour of the outback and in his painting you can feel that searing heat of the sun, that thick and dry dust of the land and the smallness of man against an endless countryside.

Born in Bendigo in Victoria, Arthur was raised on a farm and lived there with his parents and eight brothers and sisters. He produced his first painting hat age 16 but it was not until his mid thirties that he began to paint full-time. His artistic popularity is due to the fact that he has the ability to capture on canvas the real heart and soul of the outback as he sees it and in a way that is unique, warm and appealing.

Arthur Hamblin has been commissioned to paint for many Government Departments, galleries and private and corporate clients worldwide.
