REGINA NOAKES
October 2008
West Australian based artist, Regina Noakes, draws her inspiration from her background using the influence of Romanesque and Mughal art to tell her ‘observed’ and ‘imaginative’ stories. The characters and dreamlike images in her own figurative style, symbolically connect with the romantic spirit and magic of her imagination. Her works are consistently surprising and have overtones of naive painting that evokes a sense of urgency to which the viewer is drawn.
Regina Noakes is a full time professional artist who regularly exhibits internationally. Just this year there have been additions to the major collections of the British Government (Asia), Eric Clapton’s collection of 15 paintings, as well as a complete sell-out show in Venice to a private collector before opening day.
